Welcome to my Mathematics Classroom Web site! I teach fifth grade mathematics at Strafford R-VI School District in Strafford, Missouri. My family lives in the Strafford area. I grew up in Strafford, Missouri, (graduated 1989) and went to College of the Ozarks in Branson, Missouri. I graduated from college with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.
I have two boys who attend Strafford Schools. This is my fourteenth year of teaching. I take pleasure in teaching and have always known that teaching is something I wanted to pursue, because I love to see students develop into healthy adults.
My teaching career began at Dent Phelps R-III School District in Salem, Missouri. I taught 6th grade (one year), 5th grade (one year) and then second grade (two years). I moved to this area and taught fifth and sixth grade science in Clever, Missouri for 5 years. I taught 7th grade science at Strafford for 3 years. Then, I taught 5th grade communication arts for one year. I know teach 5th mathematics and absolutely love it! It keeps getting better!
My interests include spending time with my boys, reading, singing, going to the movies, spending time with my friends and family, and being active in my church family. I also volunteer as a mentor at the Pregnancy Care Center in Springfield once a week. I am involved as a leader of a Single Mom's Care Group once a week as well. I have hopes of finishing my masters in Special Education one day.
I have hopes to share this Web site with my students, their parents, and fellow educators. Thanks for visiting!
