Course Description

Students
will be learning mathematics with direct instruction, hands-on experiences, and
step-by-step models that build conceptual understanding. This
instruction will allow each student to be able to achieve success through a
balance of computational skills, conceptual understanding, and problem solving.

Mathematics Folders/Supplies

A green pocket folder will
be designated as a Mathematics folder.
Please keep all current work in this folder. Completed & graded work should be taken
home daily. PLEASE KEEP YOUR FOLDERS
ORGANIZED! You need to come prepared to
class. Being prepared means having your green
folder, assignments, a pencil and any other supplies that may be needed that
day.

Grades

Grades will be based on daily
work, tests, quizzes, projects and homework assignments. Daily grades are based on points possible.

Absences

You are
responsible for the work you have missed while you are absent. When you return
to school, it is your responsibility to look in the MAKE-UP WORK PLANNER and
get any worksheets needed from the teacher. You have two days to make up work
for every one day you miss. For example, if you are absent for two days, you
will have four days to make up the work. Regular attendance is VERY IMPORTANT!

Behavior

Behavior management is an
important aspect in any class. Since you will be switching classes several
times throughout the day, it is important that you stay focused and behave
properly.

Homework

In general, if daily work is not completed
during the class period it becomes homework and is due at the beginning
of the following class period and in the appropriate file box. A due date
is given when work is assigned that does not follow the general rule. Every assignment that I give should be
written in your student planner.
