Reading:
We are now beginning some chapter books. Our first book will be Maggie Muggie, about a third grader who is reluctant to learn cursive. Our next book will be Freckle Juice.
Language:
We are finishing up chapters on sentence structure. We will be doing our first Writer's Workshop where students will learn how to construct a personal narrative.
Math:
As we finish our place value unit with rounding and estimation, our next unit of study will be a review of addition and subtraction skills. Students will be taking a daily timed test over their addition and subtraction facts.
Social Studies/Science:
In the next week we will finish Chapter 2 on landforms. We will then switch to our science unit of rocks and minerals. GYSTC will be coming later in September to teach classes on rocks and minerals concepts.
