Quarter 2.2 Objectives

Language Arts-

  • Identify and use synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms
  • Answer literal and inferential questions about characters' actions, motives, traits, and emotions
  • Identify stated main ideas of narrative or topics of informational text
  • Arrange in sequential order a listing of events found in narrative and/or informational text
  • Synthesize information stated in the text with prior knowledge and experience to draw a conclusion
  • Use an appropriate composing process (e.g., planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing/sharing) to compose or edit
  • Compose descriptive text using vivid language
  • Verbs, helping verbs and irregular verbs
  • Verb tense (e.g., conjugation and purpose for past, present, and future)
  • Subject-verb agreement

Social Studies-

  • Develop an understanding of community/local government in relationship to the expanding horizon theme
  • Acquire the characteristics to be a responsible citizen in the United States
  • Demonstrate the ability to use social studies tools (e.g., timelines, maps, globes, compasses, graphs, technological resources, grids, schedules, etc.)
