Classroom Syllabus

Procedures for Mr.

Carey’s Classroom

 

Entering the Classroom:

 Make sure you enter the room quietly

  • Take a seat
  • Look at the board for your bell work
  • Write down the agenda for the day in your agenda book

 When you are tardy: 

  •  If you are late you must have a pass.  If you do not have a pass you will be counted as tardy.
  • Find out what you missed
  • Get to work

 End of Period Dismissal:

  •  The bell does not dismiss you, I will dismiss you.
  • Make sure you have your homework and agenda filled out before you leave.

  

Listening to and responding to questions:

Listen to your classmates questions, it might be your question

 

Waiting for Quiet:

  • I will stand in front of the room and wait for you.
  • Whatever we don’t get through in class will be homework- let’s get everything done so you don’t have to do it at home!

 Coming to Attention:

  •  We will do a lot of group work.  Sometimes it will get a little noisy.  When I want your attention I will count you down from five (5) to get quiet and explain your next task.

 What you need for each class:

  •  Please bring a pencil/pen, notebook, folder, and science book everyday to class.

 Indicating whether or not you understand:

  •  If you don’t understand- Pease let me know.  If I don’t know, I can’t help

 If You Are Absent:

  •  You still have to get your work done for the day(s) you missed. 
  • You can Call a friend or call me (618-920-8387)

 

Working Cooperatively:

  •  When we work in groups, be appropriate and respect all group members
  • If you are having a “bad day” and you think you can’t work in a group, let me know quietly and we will arrange something else

 

Going To The Office:

  •  Get a Pass
  • Leave quietly (return quietly)
  • Make sure that you have the office sign when you leave

 Passing In Papers:

  •  All Assignments will be collected at the beginning of the hour.  (5 minutes into the hour is considered LATE!)

 Exchanging Papers

  • If we grade papers together in class, put your name on the top as the one who graded the paper.

 

Moving Around The Room:

  •  You may throw something away or sharpen your pencil at any time.  Just don’t disturb others when you are doing it.

 

Going to the library/social worker/Future Leaders or anything else that my pull you out of my class in the middle of class:

  •  Ask for a pass

 

Heading on Papers:

  •  Name
  • Date
  • Hour

 

Responding to the fire drill/tornado/crisis/severe weather drills:

  •  Be appropriate
  • Walk quietly in the hallway
  • Stay together

 

 

When Visitors Are In The Classroom

  •  Treat them with respect
  • Be appropriate

 

If The Teacher Is Absent

  •  Be on your best behavior.  Treat the Substitute with just as much respect as you would treat me.

 

If you are suddenly ill (vomiting or whatever the case may be…)

  •  Let me know you are sick
  • Leave the room quickly and quietly

 

I am really looking forward to this year.  I am exited to have such a group of intelligent and well rounded students.  There is no doubt in my mind that every student will succeed to their highest potential.  As students, parents, and teacher let’s make this a great year.
