Webquests - this is a direct link to the webquests that I've created for our class. There are currently two webquests - one that focuses on plants (which we will study during the fourth quarter) and the other webquest focuses on the earth, moon, sun, and stars (which we will study during the third quarter). Visit them learn more about these objects in the sky, or just to review them!
Merriam-Websters Online Dictionary & Thesaurus - This site is a great tool to use as a resource for writing, spelling, vocabulary, and fun! Offers an online dictionary and thesaurus, as well as fun games for our students to play that build their vocabulary. Browse the "For Educators" tab to download this resource to your web browser!
Fact Monster - This is a one-stop reference source of kid-friendly facts and articles. The award-winning site also has loads of interactive tools that encourage kids to improve their math, spelling and vocabulary. Contains a reference center (dictionary, atlas, encyclopedia, etc) as well as homework help.
SchoolDiscovery: Brain Boosters - Need a challenge? Enjoy brain teasers? Then this site is for you! Also contains homework help and other useful links to enjoy.
KidsSpell - Free spelling games and activities for kids to practice spelling. Students can use our class spelling list or try new words. Lots of fun!
Reading Websites for Kids
Main Idea (Non-Fiction) Activities - Practice identifying main ideas and supporting details in informational text.
Main Idea (Fiction) Activities - this site contains several fiction reading activities that vary in length and difficulty. Each reading asks students to identify the main idea and comprehension questions in a drop down/multiple choice format.
3rd Grade Reading Skill Builders - this site has dozens of links for reading and math that allow students to practice skills.
Reading Practice
Reading Test Online -This site has reading material that is slightly above 3rd grade, but it is good practice for using graphic organizers and comparing different articles.
Arthur and Friends - Interact with Arthur and friends to practice reading skills, send letters to the characters, play games, and make music.
Mathematics Website for Kids
Who Wants to be a Mathionnaire: Based on the game "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," this game drills you on difficult math facts. It starts out easy and gets quite challenging the longer you play. Loads of fun!
EOG Sample Questions: Mathematics
Pentomino Puzzles #1 Try to place the pentominoe pieces in the box with no overlapping. There are many ways to do it! A great way to exercise the visual spatial areas of the brain (right-minded).
Pentomino Puzzle #2 The objective of this puzzle is to place all pentominos on the board after you have marked four squares to remain empty. This is an excellent exercise in visual spatial relationships and memory. Once you have accomplished it with the black squares in one place, then move the black square around and try again. This puzzle exercises the right brain very effectively.

Number & Operations: Practice a variety of math skills that focus on computation such as problem solving, addition/subtraction, multiplication/division, fractions, and patterns. Many of the activities have built in lessons that talk to the students and provide the additional practice or enrichment that students need.
Online Multplication Games - A bunch of online and downloadable math games that will allow students to practice and reinforce multiplication facts.
Area & Perimeter- This is a wonderful site that provides a tutorial for area and perimeter as well as letting kids use a virtual ruler to measure shapes. There are many other wonderful math activities on this site.
