Parent Resources

As we work together to ensure that your child is challenged and successful, here are a few resources that you could use at home at your leisure.

North Carolina Standard Course of Study: Reading/Writing * Math * Science * S.S. *

Parent Tools from Sylvan: Contains links such as daily learning tips, learning styles quiz, and report card guides that will allow you to better support your student in their learning.

Helpful Homework Hints:  Help your child get the most out of their homework by following several of the tips mentioned on this site.

Literacy Beyond the Classroom: Contains a list of activities that will encourage your child to read and enjoy reading more! Though it says that the activities are "summer activities," they can complete the actitivities any time of the year.

KidBibs Learning Tips: Some of these learning tips describe how to help children succeed in school in reading and writing. Each tip sheet includes overview information, teaching techniques, and support materials. All of the tips are written by an educator who is also a mother.

Get Involved - VOLUNTEER!

Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the most important factors in raising student self-esteem and academic achievement. Moreover, most experts agree that parental involvement should go beyond attendance at teacher conferences and open house. I realize, however, that each of our families is unique – with its own priorities, needs, talents, and time constraints -- and so we try to provide as many different kinds of opportunities for parental involvement as possible. Please review the volunteer opportunities  letter and check any that you are are interested in -- or tell what you would like to do!  Then return the form to school or email your preferences to me. Thanks in advance for your contribution and support!
