Course Syllubus

Brief Description

In this class, students will be learning:

  • Number sense will teach students computing, representation, ordering, operations, ratios, proportions and percentages.
  • Measurement will consist of units, tools, estimation, and applications.
  • Algebra will teach students to write, interpret, and solve equations using representation, patterns, expressions, by using tables, graphs, and symbols.
  • Geometry will cover materials including properties of single figures and coordinate geometry, relationships between and among multiple figures.
  • Data analysis and statistics and probability.

Ratios, Proportions, and Percents   10 days

 Algebra Unit

Representation, Patterns, and Expressions     10 days

Connections using Tables, Graphs, and Symbols     10 days

Writing, Interpreting, and Solving   10 days

 Measurement Unit

            Units, Tools, Estimation, and Properties     10 days

 Geometry Unit

            Properties of Single Figures and Coordinate Geometry     15 days

            Relationships Between and Among Multiple Figures      10 days

 Data Analysis and Statistics Unit

            Data, Analysis, and Statistics      5 days

            Probability     5 days

 ISAT

In Seventh Grade we will be giving the reading and math sections of the ISAT Test.   I will be administering the math section, but throughout the year the students will be preparing for the test in all of their classes.   Even though the students will be prepared for the test  in all classrooms they will take the test in their math and reading classrooms so they will have access to all the tools and posters used throughout the year.

 The Illinois Standard Achievement Test (ISAT)  -

            Daily Work:  Classwork and Bellwork           Tests and quizzes

            Quarterly exams

District Grading Scale:

            A+       99-100%         C+       84-85%          

            A         96-98%           C         77-83%

            A-        94-95%           C-        75-76%

            B+       92-93%           D+       73-74%

            B          88-91%           D         67-72%

            B-        86-87%           D-        65-66%             F          64-Below

Weekly progress reports are distributed every Monday.

 Parent / Teacher Conferences will be held on the following dates:

October  22nd  and 23rd

January 14th  and 15th
