- Cluster Chapter Tests 70%
Reading
- End of Selection and End of Theme Tests (and/or end of book when applicable) 50%
- Fluency tests 20%
- Daily Class work/workbooks 30%
Spelling
- Weekly assessment including dictation 90%
- Homework completion 10%
Social Studies
- Chapter and Unit Tests 60%
- Daily class work and/or projects 40%
End of Year Second Grade Writing Expectations
On Level Students will demonstrate the following expectations:
Organize with a pre-writing plan
Use lower and upper case letters
Correctly use capitalization and punctuation
Spell most words correctly; spell some words phonetically
Write simple and compound sentences
Use transition words to signal passage of time and order of events
Use specific nouns
Write multi-paragraph composition
Middle Paragraphs of Expository have main ideas, supporting details and anecdotes (short story at least 3 sentences)
Narrative writings have characters, setting, problem, dialogue and solution
Edit, revise, publish
Correctly use indentation
