Asalamu Alaykum Dear Parents,

My name is Sabia Mujeeb and I am excited to be your child’s Computer Technology teacher at Daarul Uloom Islamic School!

Masha'Allah Daarul Uloom's mobile computer lab is equipped with new Dell notebooks to be signed out by teachers to use in their classrooms with students to integrate learning with technology. Computer class is offered at Daarul Uloom once a week to students in grades 1 through 8.  Younger students will learn the basics of computer use, operation, and keyboarding skills through fun and education games.  Students will also learn the ability to recognize and use basic hardware while working their way up to the ability to perform operations in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Along the way students are taught essential computer skills such as keyboarding, word processing, ethics of using a computer, appropriate internet use and safety, and a host of other basic computer knowledge that is essential in today’s growing dependence on computer technology.

Insha'Allah, my goal is to please Allah (SWT) and to the best of my ability, provide students with knowledge in the world of technology integrated with knowledge of Islam in our lives. Insha'Allah with the help of Allah (SWT) and with your help and cooperation we can help make our children strong and knowledgeable young Muslims!

I am using SchoolRack.com to help establish better communication outside the classroom and have created this sheet to help you get started. At SchoolRack, you'll be informed and updated on what’s going on in the classroom, such as lab rules, an updated list of web links to learn from and enjoy, weekly updates on DU Typing Speed Stars for each grade, view student’s work and projects, participate in discussions online, view assignments and grades, submit assignments, download relevant files, and more!

All Students are asked to bring the following items to class and label each with the students first name, last name, and grade :

• Flashdrive
• Headphones

Students will have the option to leave their items here in the computer lab or take them home with them every week. Items will be allowed to be stored at the school for the week as long as they are labeled with the student's information.

• Middle school grade students should create an email account if they don't already have one.

In addition, all students are required to bring their assignment notebooks, a pencil/pen, and a notebook to class to record assignments and homework.
