January-Fitness Testing

January-Fitness Testing

 

Students will begin class by stretching and exercising.  Students will be introduced to new stretches and exercises.

Stretches:  Neck Roll, Arm Extensions, Twister, Waist Bend, Toe Touch, Knee to Chest, Squats, Pirate Stretch, Floor Stretches, Butterfly

Exercises:  Mountain Climb, Push Ups, Sit Ups, Chopping Wood, Toe Belly Back, Line Jump, Skip, Windmill, Circle Jump, Pirate Jumping Jacks

Form Running:  Sprint, Backwards, Hop 3xs right/left/both, Karaoke, Skip, Crabcrawl, Bear Crawl, Picking up apples, Free, Sprint

Students will count by 2's, 5's and in spanish.

 

Students will be tested by using the following:

Pacer Test-18-29

Shuttle Run-Jan. 11-15

Push-ups-Jan. 4-7

Sit-ups-Jan. 4-7

Sit and Reach-11-15

All 5th Graders will be weighed and measured.

 

Students will record scores of fitness testing.  Students will graph the scores.  Students will compare this fitness test with the fitness test that will be given in May.

Students will begin class by stretching and exercising.

Students will learn how to jump rope:

Forward-Jan. 30-Feb. 4

Backward-Feb. 8-12

Crisscross-Feb. 8-12

Double Dutch-Feb.15-19

Competition-Feb. 22-26

 

Students will be taught about a healthy heart, and ways to maintain a healthy heart.

Students will be given packets from the American Heart Association, and we will raise money through donations and jumping rope for this cause.

 

Students will compete in jumprope exercises.

Students will record how many times they jump, forward, backward, crisscross, and will make a chart from best to worst.

1. Volleying-March 3-March 5

2. Serving-March 8-12

3. Rotating-March 15-19

4. Score-March 22-26

 *Students will continue Jumprope for Heart until final contest is over.

5th Grade students will finish up on weighing and measuring.

March 28-April 1  Volleyball Tournament

April-Wall Ball and 4-Square

Students will begin class by stretching and exercising.

 

Students will be taught the rules of Wall Ball and 4-Square.

 

Students will compete using the skills learned.

May-Fitness Testing and Tag

May-Fitness Testing

  

Students will begin class by stretching and exercising.

  

Students will participate in a series of fitness testing.

1. Pacer Test

2. Shuttle Run

3. Push-ups

4. Sit-ups

5. Sit and Reach

Students will also learn various ways to play tag.
