What is i-Movie
i-Movie video editing program. i-Movie can be used to crop and reorder video clips, add visual effects, add sound effects, add titles and much more.

Topics Covered
• How to edit raw video footage
• How to add titles, sounds and other creative touches
• How to make a stop motion movie
• How to compress files for web streaming
• How to make a DVD menu using iDVD
• Different techniques used in various genres

Assessment
The students grades will include the following and be calculated
Based on points received for each assignment:
• Tests and quizzes
• Project completion
• Class work / pre-project work
• Class participation

Student Objectives
• Students will use iMovie to create a variety of different types of movies
• Students will master editing and creative techniques in iMovie
• Students will work diligently in the pre-project stage in order to plan out their projects and create higher quality projects.

Essential Skills
• Students will persist in achieving quality
• Students will work creatively

Portfolio Item
• Students will have a final movie project that will include a preplanning form, the actual movie and a reflection page. All three of these parts should compose the portfolio item for this class.

What is Flash
Flash is a program for creating media-rich movies and web pages. It allows for more versatility than HTML and other web design programs, making it an ideal program for creative students.

Topics Covered
• Benefits of using Flash to create a media-rich webpage.
• How to create simple animation using individual frames
• How to use tweening to create movement
• How to create objects and buttons
• How to use simple action script to create a more versatile page.

Assessment
Student grades will be based on the following
Point
• Written tests and quizzes
• Project completion
• Participation

Student Objectives
Students will use the flash program to create movies that:
• Contain video
• Contain their own animation
• Contain sounds/ music
• Incorporate buttons
• Incorporate action script

Portfolio Items
The portfolio item for this class will be a final flash movie. Students will include a prewriting assignment, the actual movie and the post project reflection as their portfolio item for this class.
