Dear friends,

It is with very mixed emotions that I requested, and was generously granted, a partial leave of absence. I have fallen very far behind in my pursuit of an advanced academic degree and recently received a telephone call from the department's Dean admonishing me for lack of measurable progress. The leave will give me the chance to focus on this work.

I am glad to retain SUNY Dutchess Community College's College Connection English 102 section at Webutuck as well as the advisorship to our powerful mock trial team. It is a heartbreak to not finish the year with your wonderful children.

Many thanks to those who have wished me well. I look forward to fully rejoining our learning community at the end of the leave.

All best regards,

Steven Pollak

It's about The Hunger Games, and you'll find some lively comments about the novel, parallels with Rachel's Challenge, and thoughts about beauty. A WORD ABOUT ELA-9 HONORS & ENG 101/102 (college classes)

SUNY Dutchess Community College's College Connection English 101- Composition I returned as an elective fall semester. Importantly, Webutuck added English 102-Composition II spring semester. These concurrent courses each  earn three college credits as well as high school credit for English 12. The six credits earned from these accredited courses transfer to SUNY colleges and universities as well as to many other schools nationwide.
