Classroom Policies 2009 - 2010

V + J

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Sixth Grade!!!  This is going to be an exciting and adventure-filled year.  We will be “Living Jesus in Every Way”.  Throughout this year, the students will grow in the love of Jesus Christ as they journey in their faith.  The will also start to become independent learners who grow in confidence in their own talents and abilities.

As these young learners start their journey through the middle school experience, they will have many questions, worries and moments when they will need a gentle and kind hand to guide and lead them.  It is my goal to be there to help them to have a positive experience.  As many things will be new to them, and to you, please never hesitate to ask me.  I am also encouraging the students to ask whenever they need help or want a helping hand.  With encouragement and understanding, I hope to help each student to have an experience that will lead him/her toward independence and confidence as a self-motivated learner.

My policies are the same for Religion and 6th-7th Science.  All work that is handed in must be in blue or black pen.  It must be neatly written in cursive, or typed, when appropriate.  Messy work will not be accepted.  The students will be graded on class participation, tests, projects, homework and their class notebook.

Students who are absent are responsible for make-up work.  They will be given an appropriate amount of time to make up missed work.  Parents may request work for the students who are absent due to illness by calling the office by 11:45 and may pick it up at the close of the school day.

As parents, you are your child’s primary educator.  Even though these students are in the middle school, they need your help and guidance more than ever.  Please be aware of what they are doing, check their work, and be continually involved in their school experience.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail.  I will make every effort to provide a prompt reply.  Remember that I am only able to answer a question or concern you have if you ask.  My email address is oblatesisters@verizon.net .

May Our Lord bless each of you,

Sr. Frances Carol, OSFS
