Background History
I am Ms. Sandy Castillo with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Remedial Reading. I have been teaching for eight years, and I have truly enjoyed the experiences.
I have two children and seven grandchildren. Before going into education, I was in the U.S. Navy for 16 years, whenI was released on a medical discharge. I was a Torpedoman's Mate who worked on MK 48 and MK 50 torpedoes and worked in security. I've had 2 strokes in the passed three years, but I have been medically released and I am in good health and ready to provide your child with the education she/he needs for life. I've lived around the world and in several countries overseas. I enjoy traveling, cooking, cruising, and learning new things.
I look forward to each new school year and to each new student in my class. I plan to take them on an adventurous journey through reading. I believe that each child can be successful in reading because each student succeeds at different levels. I will be also teaching Lang. Arts, writing, and spelling this year.
There's an open door policy in my class. Parents are invited and encouraged to visit the class at anytime (except doing periods of testing). Our classroom is very structured and we follow the rules, procedures, and policies of the school.
I continue my education through seminars, workshops, and classes taken at the local universities.
