Names

8/5/08

I try my hardest to learn all my students names in the first few days of school.  This is usually pretty easy for me because I get to know the students as Kindergartners and its usually just a matter of remembering who is who.  It gets interesting when students come to Riverside who attended other schools for Kindergarten.

I told the students to cover up their nametags and I went through the room telling them their names just to make sure I had them all down.  I came to one young man and I hesitated for just a moment.  I said "Oh Your name is Jonathan!"  very proud of myself for remembering.   He replied, "Yeah, I allready know that."

 Priceless....

The Titanic

Spring 09

Often in our classroom library students will find a favorite book and go to it each time they have the oportunity to go to the library.  One such favorite amoung the boys in our room was a non-fiction book about the Titanic.  One day after reading the book (again) Patterson looks up to me and says, "Mrs. Armstrong, when I grow up I'm gunna build another Titantic!"

     You go Patterson!
