It has come to my attention that my students aren't studying for their spelling tests and are therefore not really learning how to spell the words properly.
Starting this week, I have switched the pre-test with the post test. Students will take the bubble sheets as a pre-test now, and they will have to write out the words as I call them out.
When I feel that my students have started studying for these tests, I may switch them back.
The following schedule will be accurate for every full week of school. On the weeks that are shortened for holidays, the schedule will be adjusted slightly.
Monday: Students take a pre-test on the new words, and packets will be handed out. Students should work on these packets throughout the week in their free time and at home. Also, the pre-test will serve as the students' spelling list for the week. Both the pre-test and the packet are to be kept in their spelling folders.
Thursday: Packets will be collected, graded, and handed back so the students can study.
Friday: Students take the test.
