All About Me

August 2011
Dear Family,
Hi! I am Mrs. Renee Palmer. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta and my Master of Science Degree in Option in Reading from Western Connecticut State University. I taught preschool for 11 years in a private preschool in New Fairfield, Connecticut. I started teaching on the Full Day Preschool side in a 4’s class. Later, as the Head Teacher of the Half-Day Preschool, I taught both 3’s and 4’s. For seven years I was the Assistant Director in charge of the KOTG (Kids on the Go) and the Teen Central programs and I taught the Half Day 4’s Enrichment class. I had the pleasure in running the Universal Pre-K program here at Webutuck during the school year 2007-2008. Since 2008, I have been teaching Kindergarten here at Webutuck. I am truly blessed with the staff that I work with and the children I have taught. I am very excited to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. It is my wish that the upcoming school year be the best experience possible for your child. I would encourage you to feel free to contact me if any questions or concerns arise during the school year. I am most easily available before school begins and after the buses leave. Also, a message may be left with the school secretary and I will return your call as soon as possible. You can reach me at (845) 373-4122 from 8:10 AM – 3:10 PM Monday – Friday.
Please feel free to stop in our classroom on:
Thursday, September 1st, anytime between 9:00 - 12:00.
I will be working in the room and welcome you to a visit! This can be a time to become acquainted with our classroom ,as well as, alleviate some beginning of school jitters for our new friends.
I would like to ask you to provide some special items for your child to bring to school with his or her name on them.
Necessary Items:
* A folder – This will be used as a home/school folder. I will send home important school news, flyers, notices, etc. These folders will be checked on a daily basis.
* Art smock and drawing pad – An old shirt of mom or dad's provides a total cover up.
* Two (2) boxes of tissues.
Donated Items:
* Colored pencils, markers, crayons (for their own use).
* Glue Sticks (the more the merrier)
* Brown paper lunch bags
* Scotch tape
* Sandwich and Gallon Size Ziploc/Store Brand Bags.
* Large and Small paper plates (white, non-coated).
The children will be receiving instruction in art, music and physical education. Please remember that for your child’s safety, sneakers are appropriate on P.E. days. Smocks are stored in the classroom for use on messy art days.
I do set aside 15 minutes a day for snack. Children should bring their own snack. A juice box and a piece of fruit, crackers, pretzels, etc. can fill those empty spaces. An approved snack list will be distributed for food allergy safety.
The classroom is equipped with many toys and games for the children to use. All children’s toys must remain at home. This rule will prevent any issues that may arise.
Our first day of school is Wednesday, September 7th and will be a half day dismissing at 12:00 PM. Thursday, September 8th and Friday, September 9th will be full days of school.
I am looking forward to this school year and having the opportunity to work with your child. I am confident that with your support we can make this year a vital and engaging learning experience for your child.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Renee R. Palmer
