Soon, you will be given $200,000 to invest in 10 to 12 technology companies.  Before you can add these to your portfolio, you must explain your reasons for including this company.  For each stock, you must give a brief synopsis of the company and you must explain why you believe it is a good investment. Information about technology stocks can be found at these websites: www.money.cnn.com, http://finance.yahoo.com, http://moneycentral.msn.com. Credible sources must be cited on a separate page.  Use MS-Word to construct this report.

This paper will be due on December 4, 2007 at the end of class.

Project 2

Upper School Technology Elective Project #2

You are now ready to set up your portfolio. The investor with the largest gain in their portfolio will be awarded a prize.  Your overall grade will be based on management of your portfolio account and selected assignments.

1.      Your starting investment capital is $200,000

2.      A minimum of 10 stocks are to be selected, with a maximum of 12 stocks.

3.      Each stock selected must have a minimum initial investment of $10,000.

4.      Each week, you must select 2 of your stocks, and write a short update on current news for that company.   This update requires more than a recap of the stock quote. It should include information about new products, designs, mergers or Security Exchange Commission (SEC) issues.

This report must be in Times New Roman, Font 12, and Double Spaced. Sources may be placed as footer on the same page.  Sources must be cited in MLA format. Also, you will need to turn in a printout of your stock portfolio each week.

5.      Students will share this stock news with the entire class.

6.      Do your own investing.  Do not give investment advice to your classmates.  Sharing of your total portfolio is not allowed.

7.      You can use www.money.cnn.com to host your stock portfolios or any similar site. This project will end January 25, 2007.
