Outside Production Overview and Guidelines

  

Overview:

Outside production provides the students the opportunity to learn their trade on an actual construction site, working on a customer's job. They will learn about estimating, ordering materials, taking delivery, scheduling inspections, working with other trades ,communicating with the home owner/customer in addition to the hands-on skills of the trade. 

 

Guidelines:

Students on outside production must-

  • Wear hard hat at all times
  • Wear safety glasses at all times
  • Wear work boots at all times
  • Wear tool belt at all times
  • Dress appropriately for weather conditions
  • Follow all shop safety rules
  • Inspect all ladders, scaffolding,tools and cords prior to using
  • Notify instructor immediately of any safety matters
  • Pack a lunch or purchase a bag lunch from cafeteria
  • Do a thorough clean up of jobsite daily

Laurel St Update April

Laurel St job. The foundation is in and Carpentry students have begun building the floor. 

 11/22/2010- Floor,walls and roof trusses are in place. Seniors started roof sheathing today. Will be sheathed and water tight by the end of this cycle, weather permitting.

1/14/2011  We got the roof done before Christmas break. Right on schedule.Windows are in and it's time for siding. It's been a snowy winter and I'm glad we got the roof done in time.

4/14/2011  Siding is almost done. Wall is opened up into house. Mechanicals are ready for inspection. We may just finish this job in time.
