Objectives:
1) K-5th- Students will review rhythms and apply them to given notated music. ( NS2, NS5,NS6, NS7, NS8, NS9)
Materials: cd player, cds, VCR, excerpt from "Gone with the Wind."
Purpose -
1) (See above objectives)
2) Bell Ringer- The students will volunteer to do the "Bell Ringer Buster" rhythm. The teacher will review with the class.
1)Anticipatory Set- TTW say, "Today we will review the rhythms we have learned this year. We will then apply your knowledge to playing the rhythm instruments to exercises that I will have on the Promethian board.
2)Teacher Input:
The teachers will have the students review quarter notes, quarter rests, whole notes, half notes and eighth notes. Students will clap and count the rhythms using the "pie game" and traditional counting upon recognizing them on the Promethian board.
Guided Practice/Procedure:
The teachers will then give the students a serious of four measures will various learned rhythms. The students will play them on the rhythm instruments that they have "checked out" from the "Rhythm Shop." The students will also have an opportunity to come to the board and create rhythm patterns for the class to play.
Assessment: TTW observe the students.
Closure: TTW remind the students that there will be a review of the given lesson the next time they come to class.
