* PENCILS * Math Notebook * Agenda * A Positive Attitude
Class Procedures: All students have the right to a safe and productive learning environment. ALL students will follow classroom rules and consequences for disobeying will be consistent.
At the beginning of each class period students are expected to come in quietly, at their assigned seats, read and follow the daily instructions written on the board.
Class Expectations:
* NO TALKING and getting out of your seat-unless given permission by raising your hand and called upon.
* Demonstrate RESPECT at all times for everyone and for all school property.
* Each student should keep a math notebook organized by the date. This syllabus is the first item in the notebook. This notebook is the BEST resource for staying organized, being prepared for class and should be used to prepare for assessments.
* Students are expected to attempt all assignments. When working the problems students should always copy the problem, show all work and circle their final answer. The use of ink, incorrect headings, and/or failure to show all work on graded assignments will result in the student receiving an incomplete until the assignment is completed correctly! Papers turned in without a name will not be graded!
* Students will submit completed work to the bottom tray and collect graded work from the top tray. These trays are located in the student center.
* It is the responsibility of each student to get make-up work if they are absent.
* Students are encouraged to have at least a 15 minute weekly chat with their parents about what they are learning in math. After the chat parents are asked to complete the Math Chat Log. This chat is weekly and is checked on Fridays.
* Students will receive a weekly grade report in their agenda. This weekly grade report will include the student’s current grade and any missing assignments. If students have missing assignment(s) and or a failing grade, the grade report should be signed by a parent and returned to the teacher the following school day.
Class Rules
- Arrive on time prepared to learn. 2. Be prepared (agenda, paper, and pencils).
- Be respectful to everyone! 4. Chewing gum is automatic detention.
5. Anyone rude or disrespectful to a substitute will receive an automatic detention.
Consequences for disobeying classroom expectations and rules: LMS discipline consequences are based on the three-strike system. Strikes are earned as rules and procedures are broken. A warning is only given before the first strike is issued. There will be no warnings before the second and third strike. On the third strike detention will be assigned. ALL strikes are recorded in the student’s agenda and my discipline log.
Grading Policies:Participation is 10 percent of the total grade. Homework, effort and assignments completed as a class are included in this category.
Daily is 20 percent of the total grade. Class work and daily assignments are included in this category.
Progress is 30 percent of the total grade. Quizzes are included in this category.
Mastery is 40 percent of the total grade. Test and the final exam are included in this category.
Re-grade Policy: A student who made a failing grade on a classwork assignment is allowed to correct their mistakes. The student will write on their paper, “Please re-grade” and turn it in to the bottom tray. The assignment will be re-graded and the highest grade will be recorded in the grade book. This allows all students a chance to showcase their learning.
Extra Help: Extra help is available on Tuesday or Thursday in room 59 after school until 3:15 PM. A tutoring pass completed by the student and signed by a parent is REQUIRED the day before tutoring.
Contact: The online grade book is an excellent way to stay current on your child’s progress! All assignments and grades are posted on the online grade book. E-mail is the BEST way to contact me. Please E-mail me with any comments, questions and concerns.
