Rost's Roaring Report
Happy Spring!
My name is Mrs. Rost and I am the 2nd and 3rd grade, special education, co-teacher here at Komensky School. I have been a teacher for over 15 years and this is my eighth year at Komensky. I am blessed to have a wonderful assistant, named Mrs. Demtsy, who works tirelessly to assist your children in learning. I love being a special education teacher because I enjoy thinking of different ways to help students learn. I am happy to be part of the Komensky community because our principal and our staff are wonderful people who inspire me and help me when I need it. I also think that our students are terrific. They work very hard and are very respectful. I feel fortunate to have the great parents who are both supportive and appreciative of my efforts in teaching their children.
This year is the first year that I have been co-teaching with the 2nd and 3rd grade teachers on a regular basis. The best things I have found about co-teaching for the students are that the students feel more a part of the regular class, and we can switch students to different level groups depending on their needs. The surprising things that I have learned are that it is challenging to teach a whole classroom of students, and I have learned so much from observing my 2nd and 3rd grade co-teachers, Mrs. Melnick and Mr. Annoreno. I am also improving my technological skills by observing the use of the Smart Board in Mr. Annoreno's class. You might be hearing various things from your students regarding the co-teaching. Remember this is new for our students too, but if you ever have any questions, please call school and we will be happy to answer them.
