INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COURSE
GENERAL INFORMATION
AP Calculus is an elective course and is college-level work. Students taking the course must have a credit in Precalculus or an equivalent course. At the end of the school year, students are required to take the Advanced Placement Calculus Exam, and if they score well enough, they receive college credit in calculus.
TESTING
There will be 3 tests during a 9-weeks grading period. There will also be approximately 5 or 6 quizzes given to be sure that students are grasping the basic information. Both tests and quizzes will be announced in advance, and both will be posted on this web site on the day prior to the test or quiz.
HOMEWORK
Homework is assigned every day except on days when tests are scheduled. All homework assignments will be posted on this web site on the same day the assignment is made.
GRADES
Grades for each 9-weeks will be determined based upon homework, quizzes, and tests. Homework counts for 25%, quizzes for 25%, and tests for 50% of the final average. Since the course is an AP course, 5 points are then added to arrive at the final grade.
MAKEUP WORK
Students with absences are expected to make up all homework, quizzes, and tests. One day of makeup time is given for each day absent.
TUTORING
Tutoring is available from Mr. Price every day after school. Students with questions are encouraged to come by.
