INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COURSE

GENERAL INFORMATION

Honors Precalculus is an elective course and is the fourth and final course in the college prep math sequence. Students must have credits in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry in order to take this course. Honors Precalculus is intended to prepare students to take a course in Calculus as their next math course. The course includes a complete study of trigonometry, as well as other topics from advanced algebra.

TESTS

There will be 5 tests during a 9-weeks grading period. Tests will be announced several days in advance and will be posted on this web site the day prior to the test. Tests will be returned to students on the day following the test and should be kept until the end of the semester, at which time they will be useful in preparing for the semester exam.

HOMEWORK

Homework is assigned every day except on days when tests are scheduled. All homework assignments are posted on this web site the day the assignment is made.

GRADES

Grades for a 9-weeks period will be determined based upon homework and tests. The homework grade will count for 23% and test grades for 77% of the final average. Since the course is an honors course, 3 points are then added to arrive at the final grade.

MAKEUP WORK

Students who are absent are expected to make up all homework and tests they miss. One day of makeup time is given for each day absent.

TUTORING

After-school tutoring is available from Mr. Price every day. Students with questions are encouraged to come by.
