Hello, I'm Mrs. Burrell,
Hello! Welcome to the Speech and Language Site.
My name is Petrice Burrell, and I am the Speech and Language Pathologist (aka Speech Teacher) at Harris and Benard Long Accelerated Elementary Schools.
I am a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where I achieved both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master's of Science Degree in the areas of Speech and Language Pathology and Audiology. Additionally, other areas of concentration include Learning Disabilities, Psychology, Counselor Education and Geriatric Care.
I began my tenure with the Madison Community Unit School District #12 in 1979 after completing the SIU-E Master's Degree Program. Armed with the belief that an individual's ability to communicate effectively is central to Life Skills, Survival and the Learning Process, I continue to work as diligently as possible with the students I serve.
Therefore, my pledge to the District and to each student is as follows: I will do my Best to help each child achieve their speech goals. I will try to make speech fun! I will reward completed homework; in class work, compliance to speech rules, and folders brought to speech class; I will send an/some activity(ies) or homework home most sessions and model the Madison CUSD #12 social contract as it relates to the treatment of others i.e., Respectfully, Considerately, Responsiblity, Attentively and Patiently. Finally, I will embrace and exhibit the District's Mission; "Maximize All Student's Potential To Be Successful In The World".
I look forward to sharing many exciting moments with each child.
