Welcome to Clearwood and our 4th grade class. This will be a productive and successful LEAP year.
4th Quarter
Graded papers sent 4/26 sign and return by Friday
4/19 Field trip permission letters were issued today. The due date for returning permission with cash or a check to Clearwood is 5/5 for the trip on 5/13.
4/9 I will provide some LEAP snacks. If you like a particular snack, you may bring you own but nothing messy. Get a good breakfast, and get to bed early each night.
4/5 Access LA PASS from home for LEAP practice tests all this week for excellent preparation.
3/15 I have posted comments to each students Math assignment blog. Please check and make final editing. Then post as "Complete". There is also a new "Topic blog" for Block 1 and 2. Begin responding with a due date TBA.

3/5, your child received a LEAP home preparation booklet along with a contract/rubric concerning its use and credit. Please read immediately so that you and your child can derive the greatest benefit from its use.Please pay close attention to the dates listed in the rubric.
3/4 LEAP letter sent home today. Please sign and return tomorrow 3/5. Your child has signed as receiving the letter. If your child was absent, the letter will be issued the day he/she returns.
2/26 Block 1 & 2 may each bring a small snack on Monday. Both blocks completed a row on their "BIONIC" board.

12/2 Since technology has become a major part of communication, being skilled in its use is an important part of preparing students. Both of my classes each have a class website approved by our school system with it own class name and password. The name and password are to be protected. Each student in the class also has his/her own encrypted name and individual password code that gives only them access to post assignments, topic blogs, and cmail only with the teacher not other students in compliance with Tammany policy.
You as a parent should secure your child's name and pass information so that you have asccess as well. They have an Assignment due to be posted by Monday. Students have access at school if they do not have internet access at home, but time is limited if they must use only school access. A paper submission will be necessary if they do not file an electronic posting.
Assignments will be assessed as class/homework . A grade will appear in STI. The standard Clearwood writing code will apply to both "Topic Blogs" and "Assignment Blogs". Additionally, "Assignment Blog" posts will be evaluated on the basis of accuracy, clarity of expression, and completed on time.
We will begin in small steps, but past experience has shown that student quickly become involved. The blogging format reinforces analytical reading and writing skill, critical thinking, and technology skills. So parents, your students and I welcome you to explore our 21st century communication tool for learning.

Starting the 2nd quarter please evaluate the need to start a new one subject notebook. A fresh notebook is a good start to the new quarter. Please save notebooks a collection of your work.
