Ms. Parady's

 Emmett O'Brien offers support services for English Language Learners (students who have limited skills in communicating in English). Ms. Parady is a certified TESOL instructor and helps students with their studies in academic and technology areas through team teaching and if necessary self-contained classes.

  Our goal is to help students successfully adapt to the school environment and to excel to the best of their ability. We focus on teaching students differentiated strategies to meet learning styles and literacy needs.

Ell students are assessed annually with the LAS Links a statewide test which determines proficiency levels in speaking, writitng and listening in English. ELL students are entitled to accomodations  and modifications  as needed in the classroom and on tests, including the CAPT test.

New to Connecticut Technical High School our English Language Learners will be enrolled in a English Language Development course. This course will help students improve their English skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing!
Our materials are called "EDGE" and are customized for each student's reading level.

We are excitied to be offering this  course for our students which will enable them to succeed in the academic and trade areas!!
