Syllabus
Module D, Quarter 1, 2006-2007
Course: Mathlab Teacher: Pamela Collins
Course Credit: Students in the math lab earn credit. If, at the end of the year, progress and assessment results indicate a reasonable probability for success in the standard math path, the student can return to that path the following school year. For example, a student who struggles with algebra 1 concepts can effectively spend two years covering the material by spending one year in math lab improving skills/practicing algebra concepts, followed by the next year in algebra 1. Alternatively, a student can remain in the lab for the duration of high school and still receive math credit.
Course of Study: Curriculum in the Math Lab begins with an assessment to evaluate problems and weaknesses and to determine a starting point. Texts in use include the Saxon Series, which is for Math Lab only. The content is cumulative.
Focus Skills: Working independently; persisting to achieve quality
Course Requirements/Grading System Possible
Homework Assignments 45
Quizzes and Tests 45
Class Participation 10
TOTAL 100
