A FEW SHORT MESSAGES:
Jan's family visited and her sister, Jamie read a story about the Tooth Fairy and Will's family visited included a story about soccer-playing dinosaurs. We enjoyed both very much!
This week I talked to the children about our service project which involves collecting money to buy school supplies for children in a school in Colombia, South America. The money they bring in should be money they earn at home. More information about this project will follow.
Please send your child in appropriate jackets for the weather. Also, have them practice zipping and buttoning.
A new month is here and a new behavior chart begins - class rules will be strictly enforced.
Now that we have a number of sight words please take time to practice them every night until your child knows them. The words are: I,a, the, my, that ,and, is, said. For some reason"and" is giving a number of them trouble.
For the first time in weeks, the whole class was present for 2 days. I sent home restmats this weekend to be washed in an effort to get rid of any lingering germs. Please remember to return them on Monday.
Please encourage your child to print their name NEATLY on their homework and everything they do.
Please feel free to send a water bottle with your child if you'd rather they didn't drink from the water fountain.
If your child is sick you may request their work be sent home through another child in the school or sent upstairs at dismissal to be picked-up. If books are sent home please complete the work and send them back with your child when the child returns.
Don't forget spoons in lunches for pudding, fruit etc. Thanks to all the parents that sent our class boxes and bags of spoons. They come in very handy! Your child also needs a towel in their lunch box every day.
Double-knot shoes, please. If you are out and come across the cotton shoelaces, they stay tied the best.(boys shoes)
Have your child go to the bathroom before coming to school.
I look forward to seeing everyone Monday morning
Mrs. Vogtman
We will continue working on numbers 6-12.
This week's letter is "Tt" .
Our new word is "we". Keep all the little stories in a safe place when they come home on Friday. Please review all previous words: the,a,my,that, and,I, is,said. We have begun blending the sounds we've learned to make words.eg. D-a-d=Dad. Please practice with your child if they seem to be having some trouble.
Our 2 Stars of the Week are London Poist and Adrian Galsim. We look forward to learning more about them this week!
Thomas celebrates his birthday on Nov. 11th.
