Homework In General
Spelling:
Phonics tests on Wednesdays and additional wordlist tests (kept in child's folder or flipfile) during the year. The more your child practices his/her spelling words, the better.
Reading:
Please let your child read aloud to you every day for at least 15 min. Please ask your child questions about the text to ensure that he/she understands what he/she is reading. Unknown words can be written down and brought to school.
Maths:
Even if your child does not get a worksheet to complete, it is important that he/she practices his/her mental calculation skills, such as number bonds, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division.
Other subjects:
Once in a while your child will receive a worksheet, project or research task to complete at home. Please let your child work independantly as far as possible.
Incomplete work:
Should your child not complete his/her work in class, I might send it home to be completed.
Please check your child's diary and sign it daily.
Please write any questions, concerns or suggestions in their diaries - remind them to show it to me in the morning if it is urgent, because I only look at their diaries at the end of the day. If the message is confidential, please put the letter in an envelope. Alternatively, send me an email at n.vanrensburg@chesterhouse.co.za
