Mrs. Nora Wiley

Welcome

Welcome to 4-1.  I am excited to have your child in class this year.  As of now I have 14 boys and 13 girls .  I would think that more will be added but if not 27 children is just perfect! I will get my class list in August and will update then.

For those of you who don't know me, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I am married and have 3 children.  My oldest son will be a senior at Duquesne University in Pa, my daughter will be a freshman at St. Andrews College in N.C. and my youngest son will be a freshman at Massaponax High School.   I first came to HCA as a 1st grade teacher.  It was my first year back at work from being a stay at home mom for 11 years and quite a culture shock for my family.  So I quit after my first year.  I took a year off and then went back.  I  haven't left since.  I have taught 1st , 6th,7th and 4th grades at HCA.  Back in New York, before I had children, I taught middle school Math.  I have also taught high school Math for 1 year as well as  kindergarten for 1 year.  I have a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Math.  I enjoy teaching 4th grade.  4th graders are always the BEST---of course I am not bias!  My favorite words in the classroom are respect and teamwork.  I believe that respect is EVERTHING.  It is when people don't respect one another that we have problems.  I try very hard to instill this in your children daily.  I also explain to them that we are a team.  We must work together.    With this said, I want you to know that I am also looking forward to working with you.  I'm sure you will agree that whenever the teacher and the parent(s) work together the child greatly benefits. I am always available to meet with you during one of my free periods.  When I get my schedule I will post it on this website.  Please just give me 24 hour notice.  You may also email me at bnjej@verizon.net  I do believe that communication is essential.  I will email you weekly.  Please sign up on this website to receive my emails and please read them. There are times that I send these out quickly.  So if I make a spelling error please know that it is not that I can't spell, I just can't type! I do not post homework however I will post test dates, possible essay questions and classroom news.  Please contact me if ever your child is experiencing difficulties in anything; whether it be academic or social.  I'd like to say that I know everything that happens in class however I know that is not always the case.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions concerning the math packet and/or the War With Grandpa.  This work will be due the very first day of school and it will be their very first reading and math grade.  Notice that the work for The War With Grandpa should be done in their reading notebook.  Please remember this when purchasing the notebooks so you don't get too many.  This year the children will be expected to read 2 books.  They are to read The War with Grandpa and a book of their choice.  Please look on the schools website for the specific instructions.

I hope you enjoy the summer.  Feel free to contact my if you have any questions.
