Math
Last updated June 15th, 2009 at 12:51 p.m.Please remember that this is your child's first Math grade.
All work should be completed in pencil. I want to see the work. This will help me to determine what they know. I will not accept "I did it in my head." I want to see it. Your child should know their multiplication facts through 10--ideally through 12. PLEASE work on this over the summer. There are many internet sites w/ math games. Google multiplication games. You should find some info on this. Math Blaster is a great game. If you have trouble let me know. Use flash cards. If you don't have any, have your child make them using index cards. This is SO important. Repetition will increase their time. I am not a huge believer in timed tests. Practice will do the same thing without the pressure. Ten minutes a day with flashcards will work wonders. It will be very difficult for your child to feel success if he/she does not know his facts.
