Classwork
WEEK ONE: August 18-22
The students will be working on a Safety and Equipment Unit. The PowerPoint that will be shown in the classroom is in the file section of this Web page. Science books will be issued this week on Tuesday. Science Safety contracts will be sent home Monday. The students will be regisering for an on-line quiz program. This program allows to practice and/or take their science tests on-line. The students will be able to access this program from school or home. The same test can be accessed from this website to practice. The Test for safety will be taken at the end of this week. The equipment quiz is tentativly scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
Week Two: August 25th-29th
Safety tests will be completed on Tuesday. Students will finish practicing equipment usage. The equipment quiz is scheduled for Thursday. It will be available for practice by Monday, August 25th. The students should start their first textbook unit (chapter 1: sections 2-4) on Friday of this week. The new PowerPoint and notebook pages will be available in the FILE section. The students will recieve their whole notebook at one time. They are NOT allowed to work ahead.
Week Three: September 2nd-5th
The students will work on a Science Court: Living Things as an introduction to Chapter One. The Activity will be completed by Monday September 8th.
Week Four: September 8th-12th
The students will work on their Notebook pages during this week. Ransom will participate in FCAT practice testing on Tuesday and Thursday. Due to the disruption of the classroom schedule during the week, the test for this week will be on Friday. The practice test will be available in ClassMarker and on this website on Monday. The test will cover Science Court material.
Week Six: September 22-26th
The students will be finishing Chapter One. The last test for this chapter is on Wednesday. The test is available for practice on the ClassMarker sight or on this web site. The students will also complete a Notebook quiz on Wednesday. We will be starting Chapter Two: Cells by the end of the week.
Week Seven and Eight: September 29-October 10
The students will finish their cell notebook. We will be completing the microscope labs on Thursday (Cells) and Monday, Oct. 6 (Pond water). The Tests for the Cell and Microscope lab will be on Tuesday, October 7th (Cells) and Wednesday, October 8th (Microscope). The two tests will be paper tests instead of computer tests. The students will study during classroom review with the help of the powerpoint for this lesson. The Cells and Microscope powerPoint can be accessed by clicking on the name or in the files section. The Notebook Check for accuracy and completion will also be given on Wednesday, October 8th. The New Notebook on the human body will be started on Thursday.
Week Nine: October 13th-17th
The students will continue to work on the Human Body Notebook. The nine-week exam will be October 17th.
