3rd Trimester
WOW! Mrs. Nicholson's reading class really rocked this year!
WE are so proficient in our reading skills that we are tackling interesting novels that continue to build on basic skills as well as learning how to read a novel for study and enjoyment.
3rd Timester: We are about finishing a short chapter book entitled, PUNISHED! by David Lauber. The main character, Logan, is being punished by Prof. Wordsworth. Logan must find seven PUNS, seven ANAGRAMS and seven OXYMORONS before being released from speaking in PUNS. His parents are annoyed by his 'figure of speech,' but his sister is amused by it all. (A pun is the lowest form of wit; it does not task the brain a bit!)
The students recreated the literal meanings of their favorite Puns and Oxymorons through drawings which will be showcased on the walls of Piper School.
Novel- Coming SOON! We will read Knee-Knock Rise by Natalie Babbit. Genre: Fantasy- revolves around the town of Instep known for the famous Megrimum-supposely a fears monster that lives up on Knee-Knock Rise.
