General introduction and discussion about classroom procedures.
HW- Get registration paperwork and fees completed and returned to your homeroom teacher. Work on collage.
TUESDAY, 8-11-09
Discuss syllabus, fill out student information card.
HW- Work on collage.
WEDNESDAY, 8-12-09
Complete Learning Styles Inventory and discuss good study habits.
HW- Finish collage.
THURSDAY, 8-13-09
Students will introduce themselves using their collage. This is their first grade.
FRIDAY, 8-14-09
Students will finish introductions using their collage. Hand out textbooks and complete What's Inside activity if time allows.
WEEK OF AUGUST 17, 2009
MONDAY, 8-17-09
Hand out textbooks. Students need to record ALL damages to the book. Introduce Chapter 1. Do Ch. 1 Vocab.

Check and discuss HW. Work with a partner to complete The Olmecs Questions for Consideration, The Great Mayan Mystery Crossword, The City of Tenochitlan Crossword, and the Incan Roads and Bridges Work Search.
HW- Book Check tomorrow! You must have your book and it must be covered.

Show me your book for a book check! Work with your partner to finish the assignments you started yesterday. Show me your work so I can grade it. Discuss the assignments.

Copy TN Vocab. word 3 times. Make 1.2 Native American cultures list. Discuss the list.

MONDAY 8-24-09 OPEN HOUSE 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm
Do 1.3 Main Idea Questions. Discuss the correct answers after the questions have been checked.
TUESDAY, 8-25-09
Popcorn read 1.4. Students will choose one of the following activities: 1) Write a paragraph expressing the main ideas of Socrates, Plato, or Aristotle. 2) Make a list of important events in Europe during the time discussed in this section. The list should be in chronological order and include an explanation of each event. 3) Write a descriptive letter about one of the “new” items Marco Polo saw in Asia. Students should include specific ways that the item can be used. They should also include specifics about the way the item could greatly improve everyday life, and/or facilitate trade.

HW- Wear red/white/blue or a military shirt tomorrow for extra credit points!!

Give extra credit points to everyone wearing patriotic clothing. Hand out bracelets. Cut out pictures in order to collage letters.

Turn in letter OR postcard. Take Agenda Quiz. Watch Plymouth Plantation video. Read 3.2

The King's M&Ms Simulation.
HW- "No Taxation Without Representation" flyer. Students will create a flyer that explains the colonists' complaints and urges other colonists to take action.

COLONIAL DAY!!! Cancelled due to rain.
Take TCAP Practice Tests. See me if you were absent. Make-up missing assignments.
