May 30, 2008 - It's the first week of vacation, and I hope you Honors 9 students are reading your summer books. I'll be checking my email on a regular basis, so don't hesitate to contact me if you get stumped. To the right under FILES you'll find the new school calendar and other documents I refer to in my messages here.
This week at PHS I moved all my gear from my old room to our new room in the 9th Grade Wing. It's a good thing I had some friends to help - I have accumulated WAY too much stuff over the 17 years of my career. Now that I'm concentrating only on 9th grade and drama, though, I was able to pass along all my 11th grade papers and books, so that helped some. Our room is very nice, with plenty of space for you and your projects, and there are 5 brand-new student computers on the way, which will be really helpful to you. Our administrators have provided us a fine space and I believe you will like it.
Remember the books are available at our PHS library, if you have trouble finding copies, although most used book stores (and Goodwill, too!) have a few copies and you can always order them on-line from Amazon or Barnes and Noble, or actually go to BN at the mall. If you want to borrow a library copy, call the school ahead of time (706-253-1800) so our media specialist can come to help you.
I'm off to the beach for a few days - yes, I'll be reading my own assignments there, too - then back to Atlanta for a cool week-long Shakespeare Teaching Institute (I'll come back with lots of new ideas for Romeo and Juliet to use during our semester together), and then to Kennesaw for a little more college. Aren't you glad you only have to read four books and don't have to actually sit in a classroom this summer?
