Summer Reading Due August 1, 2008

The 75 students who are registered for Honors 9 this coming fall are busily reading their four books this summer. I delivered the Summer Reading Notebooks to them at their middle schools in the early part of May so that they could get started on the assignments, which include answering questions over each book, with the creation of a portfolio featuring their comprehension as well as opinions and artwork. With more than two weeks for each book and response, students will be able to submit their work to the school office on time Friday, August 1st.

    The books are:

A Doll's House (drama)    Henrick Ibsen

    Animal Farm                    George Orwell

    A Separate Peace           John Knowles

Of Mice and Men             John Steinbeck (strong language)

    The Time Machine           H.G. Wells

To Kill a Mockingbird       Harper Lee

These books are available from the PHS Media Center, but the student needs to call ahead to make certain that there is a way to check out the books.
