Marcia Wright, Ed.S., English and Drama Teacher

Pickens High School
500 Dragon Drive
Jasper, GA 30143

Here's a little bit about me:

I've been teaching at Pickens all my professional life, since 1992, enjoying the rural setting and family flavor of the community in Jasper. All three of my children went to the schools here, and had excellent experiences and teachers. I've coached the Drama Club since 1995, and created a Drama class in the winter of 2004, to complete a curriculum project for a degree I was working on then. I hold degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, was certified to teach at Kennesaw State University, earned my Master's and Specialist's in Leadership from North Georgia College and State University, and am currently enrolled in Kennesaw's Leadership for Learning doctoral program.

Over the years I have taught at each level of high school Language Arts except for 12th grade. This coming August I'm looking forward to being in the new 9th Grade Academy, where I'll be teaching Honors 9 first semester, and next semester English 9, Writer's Workshop, and Drama. Our Spring play is the musical comedy Once Upon a Mattress, about the princess and the pea, but I don't know what our competition play in October is yet.

This summer I'm attending the Folger's Shakespeare Summer Teaching Institute in Atlanta, a week-long workshop put on by Folger's Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. They have a great website you can find by Googling in the library's name. Then, I'm attending my classes at Kennesaw State University. Being a student is one of my favorite things to do.
