INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

k,1,2- Students are off to a great start of the school year.

2nd graders should be bringing a separate folder for music class and a  pencil. Students are learning the 1st 5 notes of the scale using music syllables through singing. (do,re,mi

3rd grade-  Students are bringing in their 5 dollars to purchase their recorders. Some students have brought in an older sister's or brother's instrument--that's ok. They are learning quarter, half,dotted half and whole notes. They have a ditto in their notebooks entitled CAN YOU CLAP THESE RHYTHMS? They should be practicing these notes at home for homework.Presently, we are studying lines 1 thru 5. When the instruments arrive at school,its very important that students bring them to class each Wednesday.......

4-8- All students should by now have a separate folder for music  class containing pockets with pen and pencil. Our 1st unit is entitled SIGNS , SYMBOLS AND NOTES. Students should study  the 5 page ditto in their notebooks containg all the symbols to be used this year. A test will be given at the end of the unit.They also have in their folders a music syllabus which explains in detail the units of study for the entire year. Please read this.

ATTENTION PARENTS # 2

OCTOBER 15 , 08

K,1,2  -Students have learned 2/3 songs in our new books entitled NEVER TOO YOUNG. Students are learning to read the notes in the treble clef and are also learning music signs and symbols. Additionally, students are learning the various techniques of good singing. ie, good posture,proper breathing, proper use of the articulators( tongue, teeth,lips and palate)

 

GRADE 3 -Students have been tested on MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB .Most students received a   B  or better . This week they will be given pages 3 and 4 and will learn 2 new notes ( c and  d). Make sure students practice everynight at least for 10 minutes. Perfect practice makes perfect.

 

Grades 4- 8 - Students have learned to sing 2 songs from  the NEVER TOO YOUNG BOOKS and now will begin learning to play  AMERICA and AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL on keyboards and glockenspiels. The homework is a study assignment entitled music signs and symbols which they have in their notebooks.We now have 4 digital keyboards which will allow 4 students each class period a chance to perform in class.
