An ecosystem is defined as a community together with its environment, all functioning together as a unit. Diversity affects an ecosystem because without it, an ecosystem would not thrive. There needs to be a variety of species and plants in an ecosystem. This variety supports the food chain, and keeps everything moving smoothly, and keeps a fresh cycle going. Like in the creek we monitered, there were many different species all together in one place. This is an example of diversity. An ecosystem affects diversity because if the environment is in bad shape and is suffering, there cannot be diversity. Like the Fetzner Creek, there are probably a lot less species than there could be, because the creek is in bad shape. It has to be healthy to keep a diverse amount of species alive.

We just read an article in current issues about the wolves at Yellowstone and without them there the population of elk increase, which decreases the diversity of grasslands, and the coyotes increase, which decreases the diversity in rodants. I think that you need to have diversity to sustain an ecosystem and to let if function properly. I also think an ecosystem effects the diversity because if the ecosystem is interrupted in a certain way then the animals and plant life could be altered also. Certain animals and certain plants need certain habitats to survive and if that is altered you lose those plants, which ultimatley you lose diversity.

Just like Katey, in current issues we are talking about environmental issues, and today we talked about deer. I believe that we we're the ones who affected the deer's environment and interupted the diversity of animals and ran animals out when we moved to the suburbs. When there is an ecosystem that is working and sustaniable and more animals and species move into a ecosystem, that disrupts an ecosystem.
How does an ecosystem affect diversity?
An ecosystem affects diversity when the ecosystem is broken, and when the ecosystem is broken then there wwont be any animals living there, and it won't be diverse. Animals or plants.

An ecosystem contains a various amount of species and without diversity it only becomes a species population. With diversity an ecosystem is able to sucessfully work, the food chain works well because the species have different choices of food to choose from rather than depending on one specific type of organism.
An ecosystem also impacts diversity significantly because if there happens to be a slight change in an ecosystem it can cause a major change in a species life, for example a change in temperature. With a change is the ecosystem is can easily affect the diversity.

Diversity and Ecosystems • Posted 2 years, 3 months ago. #Diversity affects an ecosystem greatly. Diversity allows different plants and aminals to thrive in the same location at the same time. Without diversity, all plants and animals would be alike and one certain species would be over-populated. Diversity gives an ecosystem balance within the plants and animals, allowing everything to thrive.
In an ecosystem one can find a variety of plants and animals causing an affect on diversity. -

In my opinion, diversity contributes a lot to an ecosystem. The more diversed the ecosystem is, than the easeir it is to contol the stability of ecosystems. Diversity has an impact on our food chains and the more diversed the food chain is the easier the flow will be.An ecosystem is affecting divirsity when it is being destroyed by humans and invading species. When a certain habitat is destroyed the food chain will be disrupted and the ecosystem will lose diversity.

Diversity effects an ecosystem because the more or less diversity can determine which organisms and speices are found in the ecosystem. This can also determine the size of an ecosystem because if there is a lot of diversity, there will most likely be a larger ecosystem to contain it all. Just as, if there is low diversity, there will most likely be a smaller ecosystem. Ecosystems can effect diversity depending on where it is located and depending on the types of species that reside there. If an ecosystem is in a place where only certain things can survive, then there will be a low diversity.

If there is only a limited amount of species in an ecosystem, then the food chain will be disrupted and, in turn, there will be many bumps in the road ahead. Likewise, if an ecosystem is disrupted, then the diversity of that ecosystem will suffer. Both of these things must coexist and work as one for both to be healthy.

An ecosystem with millions of species is far more likely to survive than an ecosystem with hundreds of species, because it keeps any one species from becoming too dominant. If a species becomes dominant (let's say a type of tree) every organism that depends on other types of trees suffers, and everything that feeds off those organisms suffers, and so on.

The many different species that are involved in an ecosystem allow for the area to either thrive or become destroyed. If at one point the diversity decreases then it throws the ecosystem off course For example, if the coyotes left an ecosystem then the other populations would increase, especially deer, which would in turn eat more than there fair share of food, leaving the species below them with less food, killing off other species. There needs to be a good balance of diversity and the land available for all the species within their ecosystem.
An Ecosystem also affects diversity. If an ecosystem is mainly sand and dry then the diversity in that area will be limited to those that can survive that type of environment. Those creatures have to take in account the water availability, shelter and the other needs of survival.

The multitude of species in a Biodiverse enviornment can survive the natural disaters and changing conditions that an ecosystem of a few species would be decimated by, preserving life in general. also the Different organisms may do things useful to humans such as control mosquitos, and other pests.

The given resorces in the ecosystem allows for great or little diversity. The more resorces avalible the greater diversity.

Diversity is absolutely integral to an ecosystem because each species is dependent on the actions of the others. A species doesn't have one food source, because of diversity. Diversity allows the stability of the ecosystem because it allows multiple food sources. If one food source is depleted, the consumers of that food source will have other options and will survive, so the carnivores of those consumers will still have a food source as well.
There is a direct relationship between an ecosystem and diversity because the diversity of an ecosystem determines the stability of said ecosystem, and the health of the ecosystem and its habitat determines the amount of diversity present. -

Without diversity in food sources like bananas, a disease can wander along and kill out the whole population. It is essential that ecosystems be diverse for survivability of all the organisms and contributing factors. Diversity is what makes an ecosystem and ecosystem, without diversity an ecosystem would just be a species population.
It's obvious that ecosystems and diversity are very interdependent on each other. Diversity sets up the ecosystem for success. A small diversity will make an ecosystem less stable.
