Agenda for week of 10/24/11

Monday - Today students reviewed the elements of plot to remind themselves for the upcoming unit assessment.  We also learned about subject pronouns and predicate pronouns.

 

Tuesday - Today students learned about object pronouns and completed practice on subject, predicate, and object pronouns. Students also completed the post test for unit 1 to compare to the pre-test.  Then they received their study guides and began completing them for review for the unit assessment.

Agenda for week of 10/31/11

Monday -  Today students finished the Unit 1 assessment and completed a Halloween activity.

 

Tuesday - Today students learned about elaborating in writing with sensory details.

 

Wednesday -  Students began completing a graphic organizer in order to begin their descriptive essays.  The topic is "My Favorite Place".

 

Thursday -Professional Day - NO SCHOOL

 

Friday -  Professional Day - NO SCHOOL

Agenda for week of 11/7/11

Monday - Today students learned about using topic sentences in writing an essay.  They were provided a little time to work on their graphic organizers for the essay.  We then went to the media center for the book check-out.

 

Tuesday - Today students began the rough drafts of their essays.  Individual essay conferences were done.

 

Wednesday - Students did peer editing and self editing on essay papers.  I also assisted in editing papers.

 

Thursday - Students were given 1/2 of the block to work on their essay that is due Tuesday.  We then took the pre-assessment for unit 2.

Agenda for week of 11/14/11

Monday - Today students completed work on helping, action, and linking verbs for warm-up.  After this, the class took notes on characterization and how an author forms the personality of a character.  The class then took a character from a story and completed the character analysis.

 

Tuesday - Students completed the pre-vocabulary sheet for the story, "Zebra." They completed the zip strips or notes for the vocabulary.  We then began to discuss and read Zebra while completing questions during reading to enhance comprehension.

 

Wednesday - Finish reading Zebra and answering questions.  Literary analysis worksheet on character traits.

 

Thursday - Computer lab - Career Cruising lesson with guidance

 

Friday - Questions in groups to discuss on Zebra.  Whole group discussion before quiz.  Quiz on Zebra with BCR.  BCR is due on Monday.

Agenda for week of 11/28

Monday - Today students worked with similes and metaphors

Tuesday - Students talked about second chances and continued similes and metaphors

Wednesday - Today students took notes on point of view - first, second, third, third omniscient, third limited.
