Description

 

Desktop Publishing is a business course designed to allow students to develop proficiency in using desktop publishing software to create a variety of printed

publications. Students will incorporate journalistic principles in design and layout of print and web publications including integration of text and graphics and use hardware and software to develop and create quality materials for business related tasks. Students will incorporate the process of analyzing information and audience and choosing the appropriate visual signals to communicate the desired message effectively.

 

Course Concepts and Generalizations

 

1. Students evaluate the purposes, functions and features of desktop

    publishing software.

2. Students develop and demonstrate desktop publishing software skills.

3. Students import, manipulate and integrate data and graphic images.

4. Students apply principles and techniques of publication design and layout.

5. Students demonstrate organizational and professional skills.

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

 

    1. Enter room quietly and begin working on your classroom/homework assignments.
    2. Respect fellow classmates at all times.
    3. No name calling or insulting classmates
    4. Ask permission to get out of seat.
    5. Raise hand to be acknowledged.
    6. No headphones, mp3’s or iPods’.
    7. Bring textbook, pencils, pens and notepaper to class every day.
    8. Clean up space around your desk or work area before you leave the room.
    9. Log off computers before leaving classroom and return to storage area.
