DESCRIPTION
The text introduces the students to the exciting and challenging world of business. Through the information and activities in the book the student will increase their preparation to be a knowledgeable consumer, well-prepared employee, and effective citizen in our economy. This course will serve as a background for other business courses they will take in high school and in college, prepare them for future employment or business ownership, and make them a better informed citizen for an n expanding international economy. This book, along with supplementary instructional resources, will make it possible for students to learn about many topics they will encounter throughout their life as a consumer, worker, and citizen.
- ORGANIZATION
The lessons will be presented in several different ways, lecture discussion, demonstration, co-operative learning, and differentiated learning. Objectives will be given daily. This class will usually consist of mostly ninth-graders and will be an introduction to the world of business. Emphasis will focus on personal financial development, business organization, and basic economic principles.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- To introduce students to the principles of economics and how economic decisions affect individual consumers, businesses, countries and international competition.
- Describe various forms of business ownership and organization, the roles and work of management, and how to undertake career planning.
- Students will learn about specialized operations areas of business and how technology affects those operations.
- Students will learn about personal business skills including consumer buying, money management, banking, consumer credit, saving and investing, and insurance.
