April 2012
CRTs are the week of April 17 and continue through the week of April 24. Core classes will not meet during this time as students are testing. However, when students are not testing they will be doing other educational activities.
****Encourage, help, force students to work on multiplication and division facts. The concepts we are learning are requiring knowledge of these facts. Without this foundation students are struggling and becoming discouraged with these harder concepts.
Students are beginning to be tested on memorized multiplication and division facts. It will be expected that all students know these facts (0-12) by the end of the year. Students will be taking timed tests approximately 60 facts in 3 minutes. They will have their own tracker to keep track of what step they are on (steps 1-10). Students will be asked to study facts for homework and attempt at least one step test per week. Feel free to ask students for their yellow fact tracker sheet to check on their progress and encourage their mastery!
Homework is assigned on a daily basis (except test days). Students do have about 15 minutes each class period to start homework. It is possible for students to finish homework in class. Homework for the previous week is due on Tuesdays.
