Spring Time

CRTs are the week of April 17 and continue through the week of April 24. Core classes will not meet during this time as students are testing. However, when students are not testing they will be doing other educational activities.
After CRTs students will continue with the Newberry Honor Novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. We will starting a unit on Poetry writing and discuss different types of poetry, poetic characteristics, and other literary elements. Students will complete their poetry unit with a personal anthology of their favorite poems as well as a class anthology of a least one poem from each student.
On most Fridays students enjoy reading about current events in their Time For Kids Magazines. Students are able to take home these mini-periodicals, so ask about what's happening in the world.
