New Science Projects for April -Due 5/1

Project proposals and standards were handed out Thursday. They are also available on the website under files.
Our second to last project is investigating the scientific method.
The Scientific Method consists of 5 steps
1. Ask a question
2. Form a hypothesis
3. Plan and carry out an experiment
4. Analyze data
5. Draw a conclusion.
Standards will have students focus or supplement certain areas of this time tested method. The due date is MAY 1, 2012
Overall General Project Changes and Help

We are always trying to improve and get more out of our projects. We are currently working on having students paraphrase information from their sources. Students are not allowed to simply copy and paste or print out information directly from the Internet.
We are also having students summarize their oral presentations. Students should have enough knowledge of their information to "talk" to the class about their topic. Note or index cards are recommended to help students remember the important parts of their presentations.
With the focus on these new areas I am hoping projects can be more meaningful to students during the research phase and enjoyable during the presentations.
