Last week we read many versions of the gingerbread man. Students were able to tell the differences and similarities between the stories. This week we are studying different traditions of Christmas. The students will learn the history of the candy cane, the stocking and the Christmas tree. They will also learn about the traditions of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. To finish a great week we will travel around the world to see and learn about Christmas in different countries. |
We just finished up learning our 2-D shapes and have begun learning how to identify and describe 3-D shapes. We will be talking about their similarities and differences. We will also sort them based on how many sides, edges, or vertices a shape has. The 2-D shapes we learned were: square, rectangle, circle, hexagon, trapezoid and triangle. The 3-D shapes we are learning are: sphere, cylinder, and cube. Over the winter break, ask your child to identify common 3D shapes around your house. |
