Review - Magna Carta / Parliament

Create Journal Entries w/ partner

#1 - “A Royal Governors Rule”

 READ: A Royal Governors Rule (p. 127)

Take on the role of a Massachusetts colonist and write a journal entry that explains your feelings about the rule of James II and Edmund Andros.

 Journal entries MUST include the following terms:

            James II

Edmund Andros

Dominion of New England

            rights taken away

            feelings / opinion towards this ruling style

#2 - “England’s Glorious Revolution”

READ: “England’s Glorious Revolution” (pp. 127 – 128)

Assume the same role as above and write a journal entry that explains your feelings about the Glorious Revolution.

Journal entries MUST include the following terms:

James II

William and Mary

English Bill of Rights + the rights given

feelings / opinion towards the revolution

 NOTE:  Underline ALL required words or phrases in your journal entries

Create a NEWSPAPER HEADLINE that might have appeared in a newspaper while this trial was actually occurring.  The HEADLINE should deal with the "right" that colonists received due to this trial...not simply, "The Zenger Trial"

Thursday 8 October

Finish material from yesterday

DEFINE salutary neglect [use analogy -parent household rules / collegiate independence / moving back home]

Create News HEADLINE for "The Zenger Trial"

Answer question #2 on p. 129

(3) "Illustrated History of the French and Indian War"

Explain assignment / format

Pass out materials

Begin assignment...DUE: Due date will be determined at the end of class on Friday!

 

Friday 8 October

NOTE: "B" Week starts again on Monday!

Work time on the "Illustrated History of the French and Indian War" assignment [See FILE for assignment directions & poster format]

[NOTE: additional time will be given in class on Monday to work on the French and Indian War assignment...however, I would advise students to complete some of the work at home over the weekend.  If not, students may have a tough time finishing on Monday or leave themselves with a lot of homework on Monday night!]
