I am in my third year at Heritage Middle School as the Math Plus teacher. I attended Elmhurst College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Business Administration. After some time in the world of business and accounting, I realized my passion was to teach children. I then received my teaching certificate from Elmhurst College and have never doubted my choice to become an educator.

Math Plus is a class designed to incorporate meaningful, hands-on lessons that enrich the mathematics curriculum of each grade level. Using structured group activities, students are encouraged to communicate strategies for problem solving in an atmosphere that is both encouraging and exciting. Students are placed on "teams" for the duration of the quarter, and they are given two opportunities per week to build those team relationships using a variety of techniques. Students are expected to participate in class on a daily basis. Through a smaller classroom environment, they become more confident and are more willing to participate in their mathematics classes.
